4 days in the emerald Rhodes
Some islands are simply weaknesses – and for me, Rhodes is one of them. An island that after 3 visits has places you have not yet met, is an island hard to get bored with. And if you have misunderstood it, I will tell you: “It’s not what you think.” You will understand this from the very first night that you will stay – where elsewhere – in the Medieval Town of Rhodes, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities (if you exclude plastic advertising misconduct). Here you will surely spend a day, between the Grand Master’s Palace and the Knights Hospital, the Knights Street, the squares, the narrow gates that lead out of the walls to the open sea. – and surely you want another day for the .. around Rhodes – the unique Valley of the Butterflies, the Retro Baths of Kallithea.
Beyond that, you definitely want a car to go down to the Rhodian south, to see another, more … clean side of the island. First stop in Faliraki because kitsch has its charm and continuity for the unique and unforgettable Lindos! Where Lindos, the small, completely Cycladic landscape with the white and blue houses, the labyrinthine alleys and the two small beaches on either side. Here is definitely worth an overnight stay (ideally at Melenos Lindos if your pocket holds) because the city is changing face in the evening, as if it is calm. day on the island and the car continues to the south – Gennadi, Kiotari and Apolakkia, Archangelos and Lachania, with little known but lesser known beaches in the middle to challenge you for a stop. All this to reach the southernmost end of the island, the unique beach – a praise for Surfers Prasonisi and … Ithaca of this Rhodian Wandering!
2 days in colorful Symi
Symi will love her from the deck yet, with the joyful and bright colors of the colorful houses in the harbor. Of the largest neoclassic settlements in the Dodecanese complex as a whole, exude a refinement and nobility. You will experience it on your afternoon walk, for sure you will stay here either in Gialos, the harbor of the island or in the majestic Ano Symi, at the top of the hill. Many steps to get to it, but both the view and the unique architecture will compensate you for the trouble. So the first day in Symi is dedicated to … the capital, stroll to the nearby harbor of Nimbori, and take a dip in the beach of Nos, two steps to get there. The second day is … free to use it as you please. If you are a beachfront, there is a boat that takes you beach-beach and believe us, has several, others on the feet of dramatic rocks, others in the hospitable shade of dense forest. If you are still a fan of exploration, the island is famous for its many scattered churches and monasteries – rent a van and start discovering!
3 days in independent Tilos
“On this island, everyone is changing tickets” – this is the motto of Tilos. Of the three islands of wandering, Tilos is perhaps the most special. Surely you heard it because of the first marriages between homosexual couples, whether the most talked about the prehistoric … dwarf elephants. Three settlements have the island, you can stay in any one of them (the most tourists are Livadia) – you can still apply your bed under a tarmac at Eristo beach with the self-managed bar. The capital of the island is the Megalo Chorio, a small architectural diamond, with its heavy stone houses, its ruined castle and its busy streets. Here you will find the skeletons of dwarf elephants, short-lived elephants who lived on the island a few thousand years ago. Here near and abandoned after World War II Small Village, for a drink in the unique bar of the isolated settlement. In the subject of beaches, Tilos does not go back – Eristos with the golden sand, Plaka, for isolation on a green background, Lerra for the peasant lovers. Here we are not going to make you a program – leave yourself to the tranquility of Tilos and seize the opportunity to get to know it better and even dedicate it a hearty weekend for complete relaxation before returning the ship to Piraeus. And this … if you do not change the tickets!
